New Site Launched on Drupal Platform

So it’s official – we’ve developed a new website design and implemented it in Drupal. Now if you know our organization well, you may be wondering why the switch to open source when you’ve built your own CMS?

Well, it’s simple – you go with what works best given the circumstances at the time and continually adapt.

We built our internal CMS to solve several issues we encountered in maintaining websites for our clients as well as provide a level of flexibility that, at the time, most open source systems didn’t provide. Since then, we’ve been able to take the time to play with Drupal and can see the potential of that platform in the near term and have been able to implement several websites for clients within a matter of weeks. Rather than say, “We have a system that works well enough”, and close our eyes to what’s out there, we’ve decided to keep moving forward.

The fact is – one should never wed themselves entirely to one specific web solution into perpetuity (our accountant wouldn’t appreciate this – he still uses a DOS program from the 80’s, but damn-it, he’s good), or close their eyes to the potential of other solutions, even if they were deemed irrelevant at the time.
